MEXICO CITY, Nov. 18 (Xinhua) -- Mexico's government is preparing to help its nationals leave Bolivia if they want, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Monday.

"All the steps have already been taken and the transportation is being resolved, by air, for their return," the president said at his daily press conference.

Some 10,000 Mexicans reside in the South American country, according to Mexico's Foreign Affairs Ministry.

Anti-government protests broke out in Bolivia after Evo Morales won reelection to a fourth presidential term in October, while the opposition refused to recognize his victory, claiming fraud.

After the military demanded his departure, Morales resigned and subsequently flew to Mexico, which offered him political asylum.
