COLOMBO, April 25 (Xinhua) -- A minor explosion was reported from a garbage dump in Pugoda, on the eastern outskirts of Sri Lankan capital Colombo on Thursday, police said.

The explosion occurred at around 9:00 a.m. local time (0330 GMT) and police have cordoned off the area to conduct investigations.

No injuries have been reported yet.

Road blocks were set up across Colombo on Thursday as police were searching suspicious vehicles entering the city after a string of explosions on Easter Sunday left 359 people dead and 500 others injured.

Security has also been beefed up outside the Central Bank and the World Trade Center in the capital.
