Mongolia records 1,625 new COVID-19 cases, 10 more deaths

ULAN BATOR, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia reported 1,625 new COVID-19 infections over the past 24 hours, bringing the national tally to 355,129, the country's health ministry said on Thursday.

Fourteen of the latest confirmed cases were imported from abroad, while the rest were locally transmitted.

Meanwhile, 10 more people, all aged over 40, died from the virus in the past day, pushing the death toll to 1,626.

COVID-19 is resurging in Mongolia due to the highly contagious Delta variant. Roughly two-thirds of its population has received two doses of vaccines.
