Seoul (People's Daily) - South Korean President Moon Jae-in said his visit to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) promoted the development of ROK-DPRK ties and built a trust relationship when he addressed the nation on Thursday on the outcome of his visit to Pyongyang, following his three-day visit.

Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, repeatedly stated his firm will to denuclearize during the meeting, Moon added.

“During the three-day visit, I had an in-depth conversation with Chairman Kim Jong-un on the denuclearization and dialogue between the DPRK and the US. Kim expressed his hope to denuclearize completely and concentrate on the development of the economy as soon as possible,” Moon said.

Moon added that Kim expressed the hope that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would visit the DPRK as soon as possible and hold a second DPRK-US summit to quickly advance the denuclearization process.

The signing of the Panmunjom Declaration is the final stage of denuclearization. The ROK hopes to sign the end-of-war declaration this year and discuss it with US President Donald Trump, Moon said.
