More than 5,000 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Africa

Johannesburg (People’s Daily) - Forty-seven countries in Africa have reported COVID-19 cases, with a total number of infections at 5,255 and a death toll of 172 as of Tuesday morning, according to a report from Africa Centres of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
So far, 371 patients have recovered.

The African countries that have more than 500 confirmed cases include South Africa (1,326 cases), Egypt (656 cases), Algeria (582 cases) and Morocco (556 cases).
Botswana became the 47th coronavirus-infected African country after announcing the first three cases of COVID-19 on Monday evening.
