More than 500,000 COVID-19 cases confirmed in Africa

Johannesburg (People’s Daily) - African countries have reported more than 500,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday morning.

There have been 11,955 deaths, while 245,068 have recovered so far among the 508,086 confirmed cases, according to a report from the Africa Centres of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

South Africa is the country with the largest number of confirmed cases in Africa with 215,855, 3,502 deaths and 102,299 cured cases. Egypt, Nigeria, Ghana, Algeria, Cameroon, Morocco, and Côte d’Ivoire each have more than 10,000 confirmed cases.
