Myanmar reports 278 new COVID-19 cases, 11 more deaths

YANGON, Sept. 20 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar reported 11 more COVID-19 deaths on Sunday night, bringing the death toll in the country to 92 in total, according to a press release from the Health and Sports Ministry.

A total of 278 more confirmed COVID-19 cases were also reported in the country on Sunday night, bringing the tally to 5,541, the release said.

Due to the recent increasing number of locally transmitted cases, the Myanmar government Sunday imposed the stay-at-home order in all townships of Yangon region, excluding Cocokyun township, which will be effective from Monday morning.

According to the ministry's figures, 1,260 patients were discharged from hospitals so far.

Myanmar reported its first two positive cases of COVID-19 on March 23.
