Singapore (People’s Daily) – After his arrival in Singapore, North Korean top leader Kim Jong-un left the Regis Hotel where he is staying for the Presidential Office to meet with Lee Hsien Loong, the prime minister of Singapore.

This is the first time that a North Korean leader has visited Singapore.

Lee wished Kim success for the summit, and expressed the hope that it would help prospects for peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula and in the wider region.

The bill for hosting the historic Trump-Kim summit will come to about $20 million, said Lee, adding that this is Singapore's contribution to an international endeavor that is "in our profound interest".

"It is a cost we are willing to pay," he said on Sunday, adding that security costs would account for about half of that figure.
