New York imposes curfew amid Floyd protests

New York (People’s Daily) - Over the past few days, US protests over the death of African American man, George Floyd, by a white police officer in Minneapolis continued to spread across the city.

Protests started peacefully during the day but gave way to arson and looting at night.

New York governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City mayor Bill de Blasio issued a joint announcement, declaring that New York would impose a curfew from 11pm to 5am on Monday, June 1, 2020.

The mayor later announced that the curfew would continue from 8pm to 5am on Tuesday.
