Nigeria announces 111 confirmed COVID-19 cases total

Abujia (People's Daily) -The total number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 reaches 111 on Sunday, with three discharged, and one died, according to data released by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC).

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari issued a national television speech at 7 pm on the same night, deciding to suspend all activities in Lagos state, Abuja FCT and Ogun state from 11 pm on the March 30 for the next 14 days, excluding hospitals, health care facilities, food processing and distribution, oil retailers, power and security departments. During this time, all passenger aircraft will be suspended and special permits will be issued as needed.

Buhari said he plans to convert all the stadiums, shrine sites and related facilities of the federal government into isolation centers and temporary hospitals, and will distribute two months of living supplies to the displaced in the coming weeks.

Buhari praised the efforts of public health, health care, port health bureaus and other staffs fighting the frontlines of the pandemic, calling them true heroes.
