Paris (People’s Daily) -- France raised the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases to 100 from 73 on Saturday, announced Jerome Salomon, the director of France's public health agency on Saturday evening.

Of those cases, 2 people have died, 12 have recovered and 86 are in hospital, 9 of them in a serious condition, according to Salomon.

In order to slow the spread of the virus, France is banning all indoor public gatherings of more than 5,000 people.
