A Chinese student of the University of Toronto is dead and three others are hospitalized after a house fire early Wednesday, China's Toronto Consulate-General said.

The fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. at the house shared by the four students of the university's Scarborough campus.

The cause of the fire was not immediately clear.

The Chinese diplomatic mission has dispatched personnel to visit the injured students and is offering assistance to their families.(with input from CGTN)
