ISLAMABAD, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan on Tuesday conducted a flight test of a type of cruise missile, Pakistani army said.
The successful test of the air launched cruise missile Ra'ad-II with a range of 600 km "significantly enhances air delivered strategic standoff capability on land and at sea," an army statement said.
"The weapon system is equipped with state of the art guidance and navigation systems ensuring engagement of targets with high precision," the statement said.
Senior military officers and officials from various organizations dealing with the country's missile system witnessed the flight test of the missile at an undisclosed location.
Lieutenant General Nadeem Zaki Manj, director general of the Strategic Plans Division termed it "a major step towards complementing Pakistan's deterrence capability," according to the statement.
President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan and services chiefs congratulated the scientists and engineers on the successful conduct of missile test, the statement said.
