PARIS, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Paris is placed on maximum alert to curb the alarming spread of coronavirus, Prefet of the Paris Police Didier Lallement said on Monday.

"This morning, we are taking a new step," Lallement told a press conference, adding that new restrictive rules will be applied in Paris and its inner suburbs for a period of 15 days as "braking measures" to cut coronavirus infections.
