MANILA (People’s Daily) - Philippine Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar said that the Philippines’ relationship with China in the field of communications is “very healthy” after the latter donated broadcast equipment to be used by regional radio stations.

Andanar and Chinese Vice Minister Wang Shouwen signed and exchanged certificates on the Philippine Radio Equipment Project, which provided for the Chinese donation of broadcasting equipment to the Philippine Broadcasting Service (PBS) of the PCOO.

The donation includes live broadcast room equipment, FM broadcast transmission equipment, and medium wave transmitter equipment, among others. “The equipment will be used to renovate our radio stations in Davao City, Cagayan De Oro, Bataan, Cebu City. This will be a huge boost to our radio operations in the Philippines,” Andanar said.

He also highlighted the robust relationship of the two countries, especially in bilateral communications cooperation, and media exchanges. “The relationship between the Philippines and China in the field of communications is very healthy. We have been sending media practitioners to the People’s Republic of China to observe the media landscape of China, in the same way that the Chinese government is also sending (media) members to the Philippines to observe,” he added.

“We see our relationship growing stronger and stronger,” Andanar added.

He thanked Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Zhao Jianhua for facilitating the donation. “Thank you so much Ambassador Zhao, as he leaves the Philippines for another assignment in November. I send him a message of wellness, I send a message of peace, and I send a message of godspeed to Ambassador Zhao,” Andanar said.

The two countries also inked bilateral documents in the fields of infrastructure, agriculture, trade, and customs.
