Warsaw (People’s Daily) - Hundreds of thousands of Czech people took the streets of Prague on Sunday calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Andrej Babis and Justice Minister Marie Benesova.

The rally in Letna park, estimated to be attended by more than 250,000 people, was the culmination of a series of demonstrations in recent weeks against Babis, who has faced investigations over alleged fraud and conflicts of interest.

Babis, 64, is under intense pressure to quit after two leaked European Commission audits appeared to uphold complaints that he is in conflict of interest over EU subsidies to his own business. Babis denied wrongdoing and accused the EU of trying to destabilize the Czech Republic.

Before his tenure as Prime Minister, Babis was the owner of the Agrofert Group, one of the largest companies in the Czech Republic. The group is involved in a wide range of fields including agriculture, chemicals, food processing and media.
