On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin invited the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) leader Kim Jong-un to visit Russia in September, Reuters reported.

Putin made the invitation when he met with Kim Yong-nam, the president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK, who went to Moscow to attend the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony.

During the meeting, Kim Yong-nam handed a written message to Putin from Kim Jong-un.
Putin also said he welcomed the meeting between Kim Jong-un and US President Donald Trump, which happened in Singapore on Tuesday.
