Putin to head Russia's new State Council

MOSCOW, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree Monday finalizing the members of the new State Council that he will head.

Putin will act as chairman of the State Council, read a presidential decree published Monday on the country's official Internet portal of legal information. The new State Council will focus in part on issues related to domestic and external state policy as well as issues regarding the country's socio-economic development.

The new State Council will be comprised of more than 100 members from different sectors, including members of parliament, regional governors, Federation Council speakers, as well as officials from public associations.
