MOSCOW, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Russia has confirmed 7,113 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, raising its total number of infections to 613,994, its coronavirus response center said in a statement on Thursday.

The death toll grew by 92 to 8,605, while 375,164 people have now recovered, including 6,342 over the last 24 hours, according to the statement.

Moscow, the country's worst-hit region, reported 885 newly confirmed cases, taking its tally of infections to 217,791.

As of Wednesday, 307,958 people were under medical observation, while more than 18.1 million COVID-19 lab tests have been conducted nationwide, Russia's consumer rights and human well-being watchdog said on Thursday.
