SEOUL, April 19 (Xinhua) -- South Korean President Moon Jae-in has received US President Donald Trump's message to Kim Jong-un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), a well-informed diplomatic source said Friday.

Moon received the message from Trump, who called for the South Korean president to convey it to the DPRK leader, during their summit meeting in Washington last week, said the source who declined to be identified because of sensitivity of the matter.

It was not concrete suggestions, said the source, who declined to comment on what the message was.

The Moon-Trump summit came after the second summit between Kim and Trump ended with no agreement in late February in the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi.

Following the Washington trip, Moon said he would prepare and push for his fourth summit with the DPRK leader. The leaders of the two Koreas met three times last year.

The source said the Moon-Trump summit in Washington helped revive need for top-down approach in negotiations to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula, while confirming that Seoul and Washington were on the same page.

Moon and Trump came up with a lot of things, including what should be done, during their meeting, but what they came up with cannot be unveiled yet, the source noted.

He expressed hope that the fourth inter-Korean summit, proposed by Moon, can lead to another DPRK-U.S. summit as seen in the past, saying South Korea tried to revive the dialogue momentum between Pyongyang and Washington.

Moon and Kim first met in April last year at the border village of Panmunjom, followed by the first-ever DPRK-U.S. summit in June last year in Singapore.

The third Moon-Kim summit was held in Pyongyang last September, and the second Kim-Trump summit was held in February in Hanoi.

Regarding the DPRK leader's policy speech marking the First Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly (SPA), the source said it was taken as a very positive signal as it confirmed Kim's willingness to continue negotiations.

Kim said in the SPA speech last Friday that he was willing to hold one more summit with Trump "if the United States adopts a correct posture and comes to the third DPRK-U.S. summit with a certain methodology that can be shared."

Following the meeting with Moon in Washington, Trump said "smaller deals" could happen "step by step" between the DPRK and the United States, though his country and South Korea were focusing on the "big deal" which Trump said is to "get rid of the nuclear weapons."

The source said something should happen whether it is a small deal or a big deal, noting that it should be a good-enough deal to both Washington and Pyongyang.
