RIYADH, Aug. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Saudi air forces announced on Monday the interception of a ballistic missile fired toward the border city of Najran, Saudi Press Agency reported.

Turki Al Maliki, spokesman of the Saudi-led coalition, said the forces detected the missile shot from Saada Province in Yemen toward the southern border of Saudi Arabia.

It targeted Najran and was intercepted and destroyed, with any injuries or damage reported, he added.

Missile attacks against Saudi border have increased recently but most of them were destroyed without reporting causalities.

Saudi Arabia has been targeted by Yemen's Houthi militias because of its leading role in the war in the country that completed its third year in March.
