Venezuela was hit by another major power cut on Monday, with more than half of the country reportedly affected. The blackout came less than two weeks after reliable power service was restored following a prolonged blackout that began on March 7. (Photos: VCG)
The blackout disabled traffic lights in the capital city of Caracas and partially disrupted the underground transport system.
Shops across the country closed early to protect against possible looting.
Service was restored in many areas within hours on Monday. According to the country's information minister, this is a new attack on the nation's electricity system.
