SOFIA, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Bulgarian law enforcement authorities have busted a four-member organized criminal group suspected of illegal trafficking of women for sexual exploitation, officials said here on Tuesday.

Dimitar Petrov, head of the Specialized Prosecutor's Office, said at a press conference that the members of the gang, which was active in Bulgaria and Germany, were arrested on Monday.

With expensive cars, they traveled around the Bulgarian seaside to seek women targets, Petrov said.

Ivaylo Spiridonov, head of the Bulgarian Chief Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, added that the investigation was launched in June after authorities got information about persons demonstrating a high standard of living without corresponding income.

During the searches, authorities found extremely expensive cars and watches, Spiridonov said, adding that there were eight cars worth more than $846,000.

The investigation is ongoing.
