Slovak Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini on Monday denounced rumors saying he was hospitalized due to the coronavirus, claiming they were "totally nonsense."

"I resolutely deny hoax tweets that I have got a coronavirus. A total nonsense," the PM tweeted.

Pellegrini was admited to hospital due to acute upper respiratory tract infection accompanied with a high temperature, his office said in a statement on Sunday. "Due to his condition, he is cancelling his entire schedule temporarily,” it said.

Rumors have floated around saying Pellegrini had contracted the coronavirus based on the symptoms of pneumonia mentioned in the statement, expecially since he had just returned to Bratislava from an EU budget summit in Brussels, which have sparked speculations about the health of other EU heads.
