China and ASEAN countries have laid a solid foundation for exchanges and cooperation on poverty alleviation, said Tan Weiping, deputy director-general of the International Poverty Reduction Center in China at an online conference on Monday.

China has always attached great importance to exchanges and cooperation on poverty alleviation with ASEAN countries, Tan said at the conference dedicated to the views of the media in ASEAN countries on China's anti-poverty campaign.

Media professionals and experts from China and ASEAN countries explored China's poverty alleviation program, as well as discussed future cooperation, at the conference.

Since the center was established in 2005, fruitful results have been achieved concerning the sharing of poverty reduction experience through forums, exchange programs and other activities, he said.

Since 2005, ASEAN countries have sent 412 officials in total to China to participate in workshops on poverty reduction, helping these countries to better eradicate poverty and develop, said Tan.

China and ASEAN countries will set a good example for achieving sustainable development goals and building a community with a shared future for mankind, Tan said.
