Spain’s Council of Ministers came to a decision today to remove the president of the autonomous Government of Catalonia Carles Puigdemont, including the entire Council, as well as the general director of the sovereign police.

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy announced the decision in a news conference following the Council meeting to dissolve the Catalan parliament, and called for a regional election on December 21. "The State has ample means to recover normal authority in a peaceful and judicious manner, and to offset the threats to coexistence," he added.

The Government has resolved also to extinguish the offices of Catalonia in foreign countries, and to dismiss its delegates in Brussels and Madrid. These and all related measures to come into effect upon digital publication of Spain’s Official State Briefing.
