Addressing the conference's opening sitting, Sudan's First Vice-President Bakri Hassan Saleh, expressed Sudan's willingness to enhance its external relations with all countries in the world, particularly within its Arab and African surroundings.

"Sudan has been exerting all efforts to bring the situation in the South Sudan, Libya, and Somalia to normalcy. We have been trying to narrow the gap between Ethiopia and Egypt views on the establishment of the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam," said Saleh when addressing the conference.

"We continue dialogue with the United States and European countries to fully normalize relations," he added.

Ghandour, for his part, said "the Sudanese diplomacy has worked to establish relations with all neighboring countries on bases of common interests and mutual respect, so that the borders would be places for cooperation and exchange of interests instead of disputes and conflicts."

The conference tends to discuss economic issues and enhance Sudan's efforts to attract investments and increase the volume of trade exchange with the world.

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir is expected to address the closing session of the two-day conference.
