Thailand’s COVID-19 cases rise to 3,028 with 3 new infections

Bangkok (People's Daily) - Thailand on Sunday confirmed three new coronavirus cases, bringing the total to 3,028 since the virus was first detected in the kingdom in January.

A total of 116 patients remain hospitalized,  2,856 have recovered and returned home, and 56 died from complications related to the disease, according to Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health.

The Thai government decided to shorten curfew hours on Friday and allowed shopping malls and restaurants to reopen on May 17.

Wholesale markets, conference centers and swimming pools will also resume operation on Sunday, part of a phased plan of reopening the country.

The country’s aviation authority on Saturday extended the restrictions on international flights for another month until June 30. Only authorized citizens will be permitted to enter the country, and they must undergo a concentrated quarantine for 14 days.
