The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 1,281,426 with the global confirmed cases reaching 51,987,635 as of 9 am BJT on Thursday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 9 am BJT, November 12):

US reports over 61,000 COVID-19 hospitalized cases, according to the latest data of The COVID Tracking Project, setting new record since pandemic begins.

The number of people who have died with COVID-19 in Britain has passed 50,000, according to government figures released Wednesday.

In Italy, the COVID-19 cases exceeded one million on Wednesday, official statistics by the Health Ministry showed.

In Spain, the COVID-19 death toll has passed the 40,000 mark, showed the Health Ministry data Wednesday.

Iran registered on Wednesday 462 deaths related to COVID-19 and 11,780 new cases, both the highest daily figure since the outbreak of the disease in the country.

The number of coronavirus patients in Turkey rose to over 400,000 on Wednesday, according to figures released by the Health Ministry.
