The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,937,730 with the global confirmed cases reaching 136,101,009 as of 6:00 pm BJT on Monday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 6:00 pm BJT, April 12):

The outbreak has now claimed 562,066 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 31,197,872 infections, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 6:00 pm BJT on Monday.

India has confirmed a total of 13,527,717 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 170,179.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 13,482,023 with 353,137 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

France has recorded 5,119,590 confirmed cases and 98,909 deaths.

Russia has confirmed 4,597,400 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 101,552.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 4,384,610, with the number of deaths at 127,331, according to the JHU virus tracker.

A total of 3,769,814 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 114,254.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 33,939 lives in Turkey, bringing the total number of infections to 3,849,011.

It is followed by Spain with 76,328 deaths from 3,347,512 infections.

Germany has reported 3,015,475 COVID-19 cases and 78,500 deaths from the virus so far.
