Globally, as of 2:00am CEST on Tuesday, there have been 2,959,929 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 202,733 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 58,355 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 1,012,583, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 4:32 pm BJT on Wednesday.

Spain has recorded 232,128 confirmed cases and 23,822 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has infected 201,505 in Italy, with the death toll at 27,359.

France's confirmed cases have increased to 169,053, with the number of deaths at 23,694, according to the JHU virus tracker.

A total of 162,350 people in the UK have tested positive for COVID-19, with the number of deaths increasing to 21,745, according to the JHU virus tracker.

It is followed by Germany with 6,314 deaths from 159,912 infections.

Turkey has confirmed a total of 114,653 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 2,992.

There have been 93,558 who tested positive for COVID-19 and 867 who have died from the virus in Russia.

Iran has reported 92,584 COVID-19 cases and 5,877 deaths from the virus so far.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 73,235 with 5,083 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.
