The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,870,883 with the global confirmed cases reaching 132,277,211 as of 9:30 am BJT on Wednesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 556,506 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 30,845,703.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 13,100,580. The death toll grew to 336,947.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 12,686,049. The death toll grew to 165,547.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in France have increased to 4,902,025 with 97,431 deaths.

It is followed by Russia with 4,546,307 infections and 99,431 deaths, UK with 4,379,033 infections and 127,106 deaths, Italy with 3,686,707 cases and 111,747 deaths, Turkey with 3,579,185 cases and 32,667 deaths, and Spain with 3,317,948 cases and 75,911 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 2,909,902 with 77,245 deaths.
