The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 4,327,243 with the global confirmed cases reaching 204,841,605 as of 7:30 pm BJT on Thursday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed 618,496 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 36,193,482 infections.

India has confirmed a total of 32,077,706 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 429,669.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 20,245,085 with 565,748 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 165,201 lives in Russia, bringing the total number of infections to 6,447,229.

France has recorded 6,440,082 confirmed cases and 112,620 deaths.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 6,176,023, with the number of deaths at 130,921, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Turkey has confirmed 5,996,194 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 52,565.

It is followed by Argentina with 108,388 deaths from 5,052,884 infections.

Colombia has reported 4,852,323 COVID-19 cases and 122,953 deaths from the virus so far.

A total of 4,660,473 people in Spain have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 82,320.
