The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 4,312,351 with the global confirmed cases reaching 203,881,516 as of 9:00 am BJT on Wednesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed 618,086 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 36,045,040 infections.

India has confirmed a total of 31,998,158 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 428,682.

Brazil has registered 1,211 more COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, raising its national death toll to 564,773, the health ministry said on Tuesday.

Russia took the nationwide tally to 6,404,960, the official monitoring and response center said Tuesday.

France has recorded 6,400,565 confirmed cases and 112,557 deaths.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 6,146,490 with the number of deaths at 130,813, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Turkey on Tuesday registered 26,597 new COVID-19 cases, raising its tally of infections to 5,968,868.

Colombia has reported 4,846,955 COVID-19 cases and 122,768 deaths from the virus so far.

A total of 4,643,450 people in Spain have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 82,227.
