Globally, as of 3:41 pm CEST on Thursday, there have been 20,439,814 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 744,385 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 167,242 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 5,254,171, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 4:27 pm BJT on Friday.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 3,224,876. The death toll grew to 105,463.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 2,461,190. The death toll grew to 48,040.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 905,762 with 15,353 deaths.

It is followed by South Africa with 572,865 infections and 11,270 deaths, Peru with 507,996 infections and 25,648 deaths, Mexico with 505,751 cases and 55,293 deaths, Colombia with 433,805 cases and 14,145 deaths and Chile with 380,034 cases and 10,299 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Spain have increased to 337,334 with 28,605 deaths.
