Globally, as of 2:16 pm CEST on Tuesday, there have been 21,756,357 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 771,635 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 171,687 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 5,479,788, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 8:27 am BJT on Wednesday.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 3,407,354. The death toll grew to 109,888.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 2,702,742. The death toll grew to 51,797.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 930,276 with 15,836 deaths.

It is followed by South Africa with 592,144 infections and 12,264 deaths, Peru with 541,493 infections and 26,481 deaths, Mexico with 525,733 cases and 57,023 deaths, Colombia with 476,660 cases and 15,372 deaths and Chile with 388,855 cases and 10,546 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Spain have increased to 364,196 with 28,670 deaths.
