Globally, as of 3:52 pm CEST on Wednesday, there have been 21,989,366 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 775,893 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 172,970 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 5,525,235, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 8:27 am BJT on Thursday.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 3,407,354. The death toll grew to 109,888.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 2,767,273. The death toll grew to 52,889.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 935,066 with 15,951 deaths.

It is followed by South Africa with 596,060 infections and 12,423 deaths, Peru with 549,321 infections and 26,658 deaths, Mexico with 531,239 cases and 57,774 deaths, Colombia with 489,122 cases and 15,619 deaths and Chile with 390,037 cases and 10,578 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Spain have increased to 370,867 with 28,797 deaths.
