The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 174,248 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 5,573,501, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 9:27 am BJT on Friday.
Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 3,501,975. The death toll grew to 112,304.
India has confirmed a total number of infections to 2,836,925. The death toll grew to 53,866.
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 939,833 with 16,058 deaths.
It is followed by South Africa with 599,940 infections and 12,618 deaths, Peru with 558,420 infections and 26,834 deaths, Mexico with 543,806 cases and 59,106 deaths, Colombia with 502,178 cases and 15,979 deaths and Chile with 391,849 cases and 10,671 deaths.
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Spain have increased to 377,906 with 28,813 deaths.
