Globally, as of 3:49 pm CEST on Tuesday, there have been 23,518,343 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 810,492 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 178,524 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 5,779,371, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 4:28 pm BJT on Wednesday.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 3,669,995. The death toll grew to 116,580.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 3,234,474. The death toll grew to 59,449.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 968,297 with 16,638 deaths.

It is followed by South Africa with 613,017 infections and 13,308 deaths, Peru with 600,438 infections and 27,813 deaths, Mexico with 568,621 cases and 61,450 deaths, Colombia with 562,113 cases and 17,889 deaths and Spain with 412,553 cases and 28,924 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Chile have increased to 400,985 with 10,958 deaths.
