The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 180,857 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 5,869,692, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 3:28 pm BJT on Thursday.
Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 3,761,391. The death toll grew to 118,649.
India has confirmed a total number of infections to 3,387,500. The death toll grew to 61,529.
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 977,730 with 16,866 deaths.
It is followed by Peru with 621,997 infections and 28,277 deaths, South Africa with 618,286 infections and 13,628 deaths, Colombia with 581,995 cases and 18,467 deaths, Mexico with 579,914 cases and 62,594 deaths and Spain with 429,507 cases and 28,996 deaths.
Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Chile have increased to 404,102 with 11,072 deaths.
