Globally, as of 3:00 pm CEST on Wednesday, there have been 18,354,342 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 696,147 deaths, reported to WHO.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 158,171 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 4,821,287, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 9:48 pm BJT on Thursday.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 2,859,073. The death toll grew to 97,256.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 1,908,254. The death toll grew to 39,795.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 864,948 with 14,465 deaths.

It is followed by South Africa with 529,877 infections and 9,298 deaths, Mexico with 456,100 infections and 49,698 deaths, Peru with 439,890 cases and 20,007 deaths and Chile with 364,723 cases and 9,792 deaths.

Colombia’s confirmed cases have increased to 334,979, with the number of deaths at 11,315, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Iran have increased to 317,483 with 17,802 deaths.
