The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 4,293,530 with the global confirmed cases reaching 202,660,933 as of 9:00 am BJT on Monday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Health systems in the United States, especially those in the South where the vaccination rates remain comparatively low, are trying to deal with hiking hospitalizations, as the country's daily COVID-19 cases topped 100,000 on Friday, hitting a six-month high since February.

Brazil registered 399 more COVID-19 deaths in the past 24 hours, raising its national death toll to 563,151, the health ministry said on Sunday.

Tunisian Health Ministry on Sunday reported 2,546 new COVID-19 cases, raising the tally of cases in the North African country to 610,660.

Cuba registered 9,427 new cases and 83 deaths from COVID-19 on Sunday, the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) reported.

Turkey on Sunday registered 22,699 new COVID-19 cases, raising its tally of infections to 5,918,540, according to its health ministry.

Israel's Ministry of Health reported 2,594 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the tally of infections in the country to 899,920.

Lebanon registered on Sunday 1,552 new COVID-19 infections, raising the total number of cases to 571,650, the Health Ministry reported.
