The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 1,470,456 with the global confirmed cases reaching 63,347,492 as of 8:00 pm BJT on Tuesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 8:00 pm BJT, Dec 01):

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 268,103 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 13,545,793, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 8:00 pm BJT on Tuesday.

India has confirmed a total of 9,462,809 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 137,621.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 6,335,878 with 173,120 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

Russia has confirmed 2,302,062 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 40,050.

France has recorded 2,275,016 confirmed cases and 52,819 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 45,069 lives in Spain, bringing the total number of infections to 1,648,187.

The UK has reported 1,633,733 COVID-19 cases and 58,545 deaths from the virus so far.

It is followed by Italy with 55,576 deaths from 1,601,554 infections.

A total of 1,424,533 people in Argentina have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 38,730.

Colombia's confirmed cases have increased to 1,316,806, with the number of deaths at 36,766, according to the JHU virus tracker.
