The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 1,749,312 with the global confirmed cases reaching 79,799,931 as of 9:22 am BJT on Saturday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 330,254 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 18,755,426.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 10,146,845. The death toll grew to 147,092.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 7,448,560. The death toll grew to 190,488.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 2,963,290 with 52,985 deaths.

It is followed by France with 2,604,595 infections and 62,548 deaths, United Kingdom with 2,227,947 infections and 70,302 deaths, Turkey with 2,118,255 cases and 19,371 deaths, Italy with 2,028,354 cases and 71,359 deaths and Spain with 1,854,951 cases and 49,824 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 1,632,736 with 29,389 deaths.
