The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 1,791,243 with the global confirmed cases reaching 82,022,480 as of 4:22 pm BJT on Wednesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 338,632 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 19,515,430.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 10,244,852. The death toll grew to 148,439.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 7,563,551. The death toll grew to 192,681.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 3,100,018 with 55,692 deaths.

It is followed by France with 2,631,111 infections and 64,204 deaths, United Kingdom with 2,389,963 infections and 71,675 deaths, Turkey with 2,178,580 cases and 20,388 deaths, Italy with 2,067,487 cases and 73,029 deaths and Spain with 1,893,502 cases and 50,442 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 1,695,364 with 32,267 deaths.
