The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,226,935 with the global confirmed cases reaching 102,922,990 as of 8:30 am BJT on Monday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Amid a slow and uneven rollout of vaccines and increasing concern about new coronavirus variants, key COVID-19 indicators show ease of the pandemic across the US, according to a weekly report of The COVID-19 Tracking Project.

Brazil has registered 27,756 cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), for a total of 9,204,731, as well as another 559 deaths, bringing the death toll to 224,504, the Ministry of Health reported on Sunday.

Another 21,088 people in Britain have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 3,817,176, according to official figures released Sunday.

French health authorities on Sunday registered 19,235 new COVID-19 cases, lower than Saturday's 24,392, while the overall coronavirus-related deaths surpassed 76,000.

Turkey on Sunday reported 6,562 new COVID-19 cases, including 641 symptomatic patients, as the total number of confirmed cases in the country reached 2,477,463.

The Chilean Ministry of Health (Minsal) reported 4,209 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on Sunday, the fourth consecutive day the country has registered over 4,000 cases.

Canada's COVID-19 deaths surpassed 20,000 on Sunday morning, hitting 20,016, according to CTV.
