The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,409,130 with the global confirmed cases reaching 109,171,771 as of 4:25 pm BJT on Tuesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 5:00 pm BJT, Feb 16):

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 486,325 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 27,694,168.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 10,925,710. The death toll grew to 155,813.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 9,866,710. The death toll grew to 239,773.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in UK have increased to 4,059,696 with 117,622 deaths.

It is followed by Russia with 4,040,505 infections and 79,659 deaths, France with 3,528,856 infections and 82,374 deaths, Spain with 3,086,286 cases and 65,449 deaths, Italy with 2,729,223 cases and 93,835 deaths and Turkey with 2,594,128 cases and 27,562 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 2,347,122 with 65,637 deaths.
