The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,420,451 with the global confirmed cases reaching 109,555,318 as of 6:00 pm BJT on Wednesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

The outbreak has now claimed 488,081 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 27,756,627 infections, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 6:00 pm BJT on Wednesday.

India has confirmed a total of 10,937,320 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 155,913.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 9,921,981 with 240,940 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 4,070,332, with the number of deaths at 118,421, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Russia has confirmed 4,066,164 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 80,118.

France has recorded 3,548,452 confirmed cases and 82,961 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 65,979 lives in Spain, bringing the total number of infections to 3,096,343.

A total of 2,739,591 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 94,171.

It is followed by Turkey with 27,652 deaths from 2,602,034 infections.

Germany has reported 2,354,622 COVID-19 cases and 66,202 deaths from the virus so far.
