The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,428,021 with the global confirmed cases reaching 109,859,193 as of 9:00 am BJT on Thursday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 9:00 am BJT, Feb 18):

The outbreak has now claimed 490,062 lives in the US, the most of any country, with a total of 27,817,527 infections, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University as of 9:00 am BJT on Thursday.

India has confirmed a total of 10,937,320 COVID-19 cases, raising the number of deaths to 155,913.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil have increased to 9,978,747 with 242,090 deaths, Johns Hopkins reported.

The UK's confirmed cases have increased to 4,083,055, with the number of deaths at 119,159, according to the JHU virus tracker.

Russia has confirmed 4,066,164 cases of COVID-19, with the number of deaths at 80,118.

France has recorded 3,573,470 confirmed cases and 83,271 deaths.

The coronavirus pandemic has claimed 66,316 lives in Spain, bringing the total number of infections to 3,107,172.

A total of 2,751,657 people in Italy have tested positive for COVID-19, with the death toll at 94,540.

It is followed by Turkey with 27,738 deaths from 2,609,359 infections.

Germany has reported 2,362,364 COVID-19 cases and 66,427 deaths from the virus so far.
