The total number of deaths from the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide has increased to 2,486,267 with the global confirmed cases reaching 112,149,127 as of 5:30 pm BJT on Wednesday, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.

Current status (data as of 5:30 pm BJT, Feb 24):

The outbreak has now claimed the lives of at least 502,660 people in the US, the most of any country. The US also leads the world in the number of confirmed infections with 28,261,589.

India has confirmed a total number of infections to 11,030,176. The death toll grew to 156,567.

Brazil has confirmed a total number of infections to 10,257,875. The death toll grew to 248,529.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Russia have increased to 4,153,735 with 83,044 deaths.

It is followed by UK with 4,146,756 and 121,536 deaths, France with 3,689,534 infections and 85,195 deaths, Spain with 3,161,432 cases and 68,079 deaths, Italy with 2,832,162 cases and 96,348 deaths and Turkey with 2,655,633 cases and 28,213 deaths.

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Germany have increased to 2,406,686 with 68,790 deaths.
